SIBU, Aug 11: An elderly man died after being run over by a lorry in a horrific accident at Jalan Deshon yesterday evening.
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the accident occurred at about 5.25pm ​​when the victim, identified as 77-year-old lman, was riding a motorcycle.
“Prior to the incident, the victim was traveling along Jalan Deshon. He suddenly lost control and fell under the lorry and was run over by the rear tire of the lorry,” he said.
Zulkipli said, as a result of the accident, the victim suffered severe injuries to the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He added that the police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving causing death.
