LUNDU, Sept 9: An elderly farmer died due to serious injuries while her husband suffered serious injuries after they were knocked down by a car in an accident yesterday.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu disclosed the accident occurred at the Jalan Pueh-Telok Melano intersection at about 3.24pm.
The decease, 81, died on the spot.
Her husband, 83, was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that the Perodua Myvi car was travelling from Lundu heading to Telok Melano when the motorcycle the couple was riding suddenly came out from the Kampung Pueh junction.
The weather during the incident was reported to be clear while the tarred road surface was in good condition.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous or reckless driving. — DayakDaily
