KUCHING, Jan 27: The Ministry of Education (MoE) is ready to improve the education issues in Sarawak within the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said she had discussed the matters with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Among the education issues in Sarawak, one of them is our effort to welcome the spirit of MA63 when talking about the principle of ‘education for all’ and this included access to education which is closely related to the improvement of dilapidated schools in Sarawak.

“Secondly, we (Abang Johari and Fadhlina) discussed the experiences of Sarawak related to the strengthening of unity initiatives in the country which I think is also very important for us to continue to make it a joint commitment including at the national level,” she said after paying a courtesy visit to Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

At the same time, Fadhlina said the MOE would hold the Sarawak Premier’s Cup Debate Competition to foster, strengthen and empower the Malay language among students. — DayakDaily
