EC: Voters from EMCO localities must undergo RTK Ag test within 24 hours before voting date

New SOPs for inter-district voters and media control during polling day.

KUCHING, Dec 5: The Election Commission (EC) today announced that voters who are in Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) localities must undergo the RTK Ag test within 24 hours before their voting date.

According to the EC in a statement today which revealed Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the 12th State Election (GE12), permission to cross districts or State boundaries for voting purposes is also subject to the Standing Order in force.

Only voters who have tested negative for Covid-19 and have obtained permission from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are allowed to go out to cast their vote.

Voters also must submit relevant documents such as voter information from the MySPR Semak application or review from the EC portal to PDRM in order to obtain permission to go out to cast their vote.

Meanwhile, the EC said it will designate a place for press conferences or interview sessions at the polling station, to ensure physical distancing compliance.

Apart from that, any form of spontaneous interviews outside the set time is prohibited, and only media personnel who have completed their vaccination are allowed to attend press conference or interview sessions.

Media practitioners who are symptomatic or positive for Covid-19 or have close contact to positive cases are not allowed to attend interview and press conference sessions. — DayakDaily
