KUCHING, July 23: A staff member of Election Commission (EC) Sarawak has tested positive for Covid-19.
EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak revealed in a media statement that this has led to a temporary closure of the Sarawak’s EC office from July 20, 2020 (Monday) to August 2, 2020 (Sunday).
He also said all EC office staff in Sarawak who had close contact with the infected staff have been instructed to undergo Covid-19 screening test and self-quarantine for 14 days.
These procedures were in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).
“The operation of the Sarawak EC office will be closed until the end of the staff quarantine period as there will be no staff working in the office at this period of time,” he added. —DayakDaily
