KUCHING, April 25: Eateries at Icom Square are the most affected affected by Covid-19 cases among dining premises under Kuching South City Council (MBKS)’s jurisdiction.
Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian in a Facebook post revealed 81 per cent or 21 out of the 26 eating establishments at Icom Square have been affected by Covid-19.
These were followed by eateries at BDC with 39 per cent, Galacity (33 per cent), MJC Batu Kawa (29 per cent), Petanak/Padungan (22 per cent), Song Plaza (18 per cent), Tabuan Tranquility (14 per cent), Saradise (12 per cent) and Pending/Ang Cheng Ho (seven per cent).
As for areas under Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Dr Sim revealed 45 per cent of such premises at Satok were affected followed by 22 per cent of eateries at the Metrocity area.
He added 20 per cent of eateries in Kota Samarahan, numbering 40 out of the 200 premises located at Aiman Square, Bandar Riyal and Summer Mall, which were affected by Covid-19.
āOur public health medical experts had identified places (especially enclosed with air conditioner) of dining as one of high risk areas for transmission (our masks are down).

Dr Sim disclosed that the data was gathered by the SGH Covid-19 Epidemiology Team from March 14 to April 14.
Dr Sim who is also the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor also said for open air and enclosed space dining, DBKU has the highest percentage of premises exposed to Covid-19 at 23.2 per cent followed by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) with 17.9 per cent, MBKS with 14.3 per cent and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) with 3.4 per cent. ā DayakDaily
