KUCHING, Sept 23: E-hailing and p-hailing drivers will be able to apply for additional subsidised RON95 petrol quota under the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) initiative, provided their applications are endorsed by service providers approved by the federal government.
In a TVS news report, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan explained that this requirement is crucial as it allows the government to verify and monitor applications, ensuring subsidies are directed only to drivers actively engaged in the industry.
“Through the current system, we have access to performance records, such as the number of trips completed daily.
“Monthly fuel usage can also be verified with the e-hailing and p-hailing companies to confirm that the drivers are genuinely working,” he explained after officiating the Mega e-Invoice 2025 Roadshow (Series 2) at the national level in Menara HASiL Penang today.
Amir added that the government will introduce several safeguards to prevent subsidy misuse. Among them, repeated claims for the subsidy within the same day will not be allowed, with further details to be announced by Sept 30.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier announced that the price of RON95 petrol will be reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre effective Sept 30, for Malaysians across all income levels.
Under BUDI95, all Malaysians aged 16 and above with a valid driving licence are entitled to 300 litres of subsidised RON95 petrol monthly.
E-hailing and p-hailing drivers, however, are exempted from this limit, while non-citizens will be charged RM2.60 per litre once the new rates take effect. — DayakDaily
