SIBU, Dec 15: The construction of the Durin Bridge is scheduled to be completed in April 2020, two months ahead of schedule.

Speaking at the symbolic girder ‘stitching’ ceremony for the Batang Rajang Bridge here today, Works Minister Baru Bian said the project would allow road users to enjoy the full four (4) two (2) lane from Sibu to Durin to cross the Batang Rajang.

The 1.2km-long Durin Bridge, also known as the Rajang Bar Bridge, will be a twin bridge to the existing bridge built in the 1990s.

The Durin Bridge will be the longest bridge in the Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway Project with a four-year construction schedule, compared to the 10-year twin bridge construction.

The cost of the project is RM120 million.

This project is part of the scope of work under the Bintangor Intersection Contract for the River Bridge (WPC 07) contracted by Hock Seng Lee-Dhaya Maju Infrastructure Asia JV. — DayakDaily
