DUN Speaker discusses empowering legislative institutions with Terengganu, Kelantan Speakers

KUCHING, March 23: Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nassar met with his Terengganu and Kelantan counterparts to discuss the empowerment of legislative institutions.

According to a statement, the matter was raised during a meeting following the courtesy visit from Terengganu Legislative Assembly Speaker Dato’ Yahaya Ali and Kelantan Legislative Assembly Speaker Dato’ Abdullah Ya’kub at the complex in Petra Jaya yesterday (March 22).

Among the matters discussed were ensuring the position of State Legislature in Malaysia is standardised to catch up with transformation aspects in other countries which practisr a parliamentary constitutional system centered on democracy and the rule of law.


In the meeting, the two visiting Speakers together with their respective wives had the opportunity to inspect the Chamber and see the uniqueness of the DUN building design.

At the same time, Mohammad Asfia also shared about the background and history of the DUN as well as Sarawak’s uniqueness and cultural diversity. — DayakDaily
