SIBU, Aug 19: Dudong assemblyman Dato Seri Tiong King Sing handed over two units of engine boats to the police here yesterday (Aug 18).
Despite the contribution, Tiong, who is the Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, as well as Bintulu MP, had publicly apologised to the enforcement body for not being able to fulfil their request for five units of engine boats.
“I hope that the Sarawak police can be patient, and I will definitely fulfil my promise if the stock (boats) is available.
“I hope a small contribution like this can help ease some of the burdens on our enforcement team, especially during search and rescue (SAR) operation or during natural disasters like flood,” he said in a Facebook post uploaded today.
Tiong also mentioned that he had approved the application of installing 50 units of solar lamps around the IPD Sibu compound.
