KUCHING, Dec 7: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has brushed off speculation on the purported Dubai Move to topple the unity government, describing it as a waste of time.

He said he has no knowledge of the Dubai Move—an alleged meeting in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) involving Malaysian Opposition party leaders and government officials with the aim of carrying out a political coup against Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his government.

“(Dubai Move) is a waste of time. I have no knowledge about it. What’s next—the Monaco move or London move?

“For Sarawak, we just concentrate (on development). If we focus and our economy grows in strength, our revenue will increase,” he told reporters after a walkabout at the new Dataran Ibu Pertiwi here today.

Abang Johari also explained that he was surprised to see in the news that his name was linked to the Dubai Move and that the Opposition allegedly intended to offer him the prime minister’s position.

“However, we should ‘measure our clothes with our own body’. Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) only has 23 parliamentary seats.

“If you are elevated to that high post, there is also possibility that they could topple you from below too. We are not ‘paloi’ (stupid),” he added. — DayakDaily
