Drug trafficking: Remand extended for three suspects

MIRI, Oct 8: Three local men suspected of trafficking drugs at Luak Bay, here, have been further remanded for seven days.

A police investigation officer applied the extension of remand order in a Magistrates’ Court here yesterday, as documentation and investigation for the case was not completed.

Magistrate Mohd Syafique Mohd Hilmie granted the application.

The three suspects aged aged 32, 38 and 47, were detained by the police during a raid on Sept 29, around 7.40pm at a shophouse in Luak Bay.

Following their arrest, the police was led to a second location, a house, also located in Luak.

The police seized around 6,441 grammes of ecstasy and ketamine, including other assets, worth RM409,917.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
