Drug runner nabbed with 253.7 gramme of drug

The drugs believed to Methamphetamine seized from a man.

MIRI, Oct 25: Police have on Thursday (Oct 24) night seized 253.7 gramme of drug believed to be Methamphetamine worth about RM50,740 and detained a 21 year-old for questioning.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, they believed the suspect is a drug runner or transporter who help to bring in or deliver supplies from Miri to Batu Niah.

The suspect was detained during a raid at 10.20 pm in Batu Niah.


“The suspect was inside a Proton Pesona parked behind an eatery in Batu Niah when a team from Miri Narcotic Investigation Department approached,” he said.

Preliminary investigation found that the suspect had received payment of about RM2,000 a month as commission to carry out those works.

“The suspect, who is self-employed working with his father in the oil palm plantation, has been active for one year prior his arrest,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.— DayakDaily
