MIRI, Aug 4: A driver suspected of falling asleep while driving sustained injuries to the left leg after his Proton Persona crashed into four vehicles parked along the roadside at Jalan Lutong-Kuala Baram here this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lutong responded to the emergency at 4.54pm and a team of firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the Proton Persona had collided with four parked vehicles.
The driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle after becoming drowsy, resulting in the crash.
The operation team, led by PBK I Amindra Lapiaman, extricated the injured driver from the vehicle, stabilised the victim and provided initial treatment before handing the victim over to the police and Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) personnel for further action.
The situation was brought under control at 4.59pm, while the operation concluded at 6.09pm after the firefighters have ensured the safety of the accident site. — DayakDaily
