Driver injured after Proton X50 plunges into 10-metre ravine near SK Lepong Baleh in Kapit

KAPIT, July 12: A man sustained injuries after the vehicle he was driving plunged into a 10-metre-deep ravine near Jalan Melekun, close to SK Lepong Baleh in Kapit this evening.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the Kapit fire station received a distress call regarding the accident at 5.01pm and immediately dispatched a team of seven firefighters to the scene, led by PBK II Budiman Salbia.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the crash involved a single vehicle, a Proton X50, which had veered off the road and fallen into the ravine.

“There was one male victim who sustained injuries but was not trapped inside the vehicle,” Bomba said in a statement.

Firefighters assisted in bringing the injured man up to a safe area before handing him over to Ministry of Health (KKM) paramedics.

The victim was later transported to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment. — DayakDaily
