Driver arrested after motorcyclist dies in Jalan Sibu-Bintulu accident

MUKAH, Nov 2: A 61-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident with a car at KM121 Jalan Sibu-Bintulu.

Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said in the 11pm incident last night, the deceased from Rumah Mengong, Bintulu was traveling from Selangau when he changed lane to go to a longhouse, Rumah Ingga Sigan.

He said a car driven by a 21-year-old supermarket manager then collided with the victim’s motorcycle.

“The victim was flung into a side drain and died on the spot,” he said.

The body of the deceased was sent to Mukah Hospital by paramedics from Sungai Arip Health Clinic.

“We have arrested the driver of the car under Section 112 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for the alleged offence under Section 41 (1) of the same Act,” he said. — DayakDaily
