KUCHING, April 30: Dr Zaiedi Suhaili has been re-appointed a senator for a second term by the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
Zaiedi’s first term of service expires on July 19 this year.
His re-appointment was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and seconded by Assistant Minister of Water Supply Datuk Liwan Lagang during the DUN sitting, today.
Awang Tengah, who spoke briefly about Zaiedi, said the later had vast experience in administration and politics, including appointments as a political secretary in several federal ministries over the past 20 years.
“Zaiedi has served Sarawak with dedication and distinction since he was appointed a senator in 2016, and he has fulfilled the requirements as stipulated in Article 47(a) of the Federal Constitution to be re-elected as a member of the Senate,” Awang Tengah said.
After no other proposals or objections were made by other DUN members, Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar announced the re-appointment. — DayakDaily
