KUCHING, Nov 17: There is a need for a ‘reset’ and the power is in the people’s hand, says Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) P196 Bandar Kuching incumbent Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen.
According to Dr Yii, the country needs to progress, not regress to ensure good foundations are built to ensure everyone, including Sarawakians, can prosper through good governance which is the foundation of what Pakatan Harapan (PH) is fighting for.
“While we do want a stable government, we cannot stabilise a corrupt government, we cannot stabilise an incompetent and racist government, and we cannot stabilise a government more interested in power than solving the issues faced by everyday Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Yii also said while Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) rallying call is to “vote for Sarawak” and “what is best for Sarawak”, but until today, both have not condemned the acts of corruption and abuse of power just like the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal or even the RM1.25 billion solar panel project scandal in Sarawak which has deprived and affected Sarawakians.
He also questioned how is corruption, abuse of power, rampant divisive sentiments and a total disrespect of the multicultural and multi-religious fabric in Malaysia even good for Sarawak?
“That is why, this election, we are indeed “voting for Sarawak” and what is best for Sarawak, and that is to ensure we vote for a federal government built on principles of good governance, anti-corruption, and a respect for the pluralistic nature of Malaysia as a whole,” he added. — DayakDaily
