KUCHING, Sept 13: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii today contributed nearly RM82,000 to SMK St Joseph to help upgrade and fit classrooms with ICT equipment to support the learning and teaching of students and teachers.
This was on top of his initial contribution of RM100,000 previously for the school’s Mill Hill Block Restoration Project involving the upgrading of nine classrooms, staff rooms and offices as well as building a new lecture hall and meeting rooms.
“Today I visited my alma mater SMK St Joseph Kuching to hand over RM81,754 which will allow the school to purchase at least 26 units of LCD projectors, professional screens, wireless equipment and other necessities.
“This is important to equip the new classrooms and replace the old equipment in other classrooms,” he said in a statement today.
Dr Yii added that the allocation will also be used to equip the school’s media team with cameras, tripods, video recorders, microphones, wireless Bluetooth accessories and connectors that will support students in carrying out their activities.
“The Covid-19 has magnified the importance of ICT facilities in schools especially for online classes or even to provide innovative teaching to enhance students’ learning.
“That’s why it is always an honour to give back to the school that has given me so much,” he revealed. — DayakDaily
