KUCHING, Nov 2: The continuation of the Skim Perubatan Madani (SPM) initiative has benefited 14,425 B40 households in Sarawak as of Oct 29, says Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Yuen.

Dr Yii, who is also Special Advisor to Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa, said under the initiative, a total of 23,431 visits have been made, with a total of 83 private general practitioner (GP) clinics registered throughout the State.

“These places include Kuching, Bau, Betong, Bintulu, Miri, Mukah, Samarahan, Saratok, Serian, Sibu, and Sri Aman.

“Kuching alone as of Oct 29, had a total of 20,837 visits with a total of 12,558 households enrolled and a total of 45 GPs clinics registered,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Yii said while there is a good response to the initiative, there is still more room for more households to benefit from the initiative.

Meanwhile, Dr Yii said for Kuching alone, the initiative has benefited 53,287 households, where for each Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipient, the government allocates RM250 for each household, RM125 for senior citizens (without their partner), and RM75 for singles.

As such, he encouraged more of those eligible to make full use of its benefit for themselves and eligible family members.

“The STR recipients can obtain as many free treatments as they want until the allocation for each household is finished.

“This will benefit all STR recipients and they will be registered automatically into this initiative and all they need is to bring their IC to a registered GP clinic,” he said.

Launched on June 15, 2023, Kuching was among the first 10 districts throughout Malaysia selected for the SPM initiative. — DayakDaily
