MIRI, Nov 8: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian today reminded P219 Miri voters not to fall for the opposition’s fearmongering tactics during the 15th General Election (GE15).

“They tend to use these tactics to mislead people with fear…and these (tactics) are the politic of the past…” he told the media during a press conference at the SUPP Piasau office here.

He said Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS) really wants to fight to get back Sarawak’s rights including income tax revenue, education, health autonomy, and more.

He urged Sarawakians not to fall for the opposition’s allegation that GPS is United Malays National Organisation (Umno).

“We also have to realise that this GE15 is crucial for the future of Sarawak….,” Dr Sim said, citing opposition campaigning in Kuching alleging that if GPS wins, Umno president Dato Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be at ease.

“If GPS is Umno, why is Pakatan Harapan (PH) offering GPS or the Sarawak government a deputy prime minister position before election…last time we want to ask for this (the position), nobody offered us….,” Dr Sim pointed out.

“After 59 years since we were involved in the formation of Malaysia, let’s achieve something that our forefathers never got to achive…and come this November 19 (polling day) please vote for our ‘calon’ No. 1 Cr (Jeffery) Phang,” he said. Phang is listed as the first candidate on the ballot paper for P219 Miri.

On another matter, Dr Sim voiced his full support for Phang’s goal as listed in the latter’s manifesto to establish a cancer and heart centre in Miri.

“Miri, Sarawak is our home, we need to do something about it…and not just complain and protest…we want to establish a facility to address the issues and provide better healthcare services to the rakyat,” he said. — DayakDaily
