Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian

KUCHING, March 1: Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian has tested positive for Covid-19.

He revealed he underwent a Covid-19 PCR test as a pre-travel requirement and the test result returned positive last night.

“(I have) no symptoms and my daily morning self-testing for the last few days had been negative.

“The positive result came as a shock as (I) had daily self-testing, always (wear) double masks, washing hands and follow SOP (standard operating procedure).

“It shows how infectious and how hard (it is) to fight (the) Covid-19 Omicron surge,” he said in a social media post last night.

The latest SOP on Covid-19 close contact effective March 1.

Dr Sim who is also the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister further said that he had submitted a report of his positive result via MySejahtera.

He disclosed he will undergo isolation and conduct self-monitoring for seven days as per latest Ministry of Health (MOH) standard operating procedure (SOP).

“My sincere apologies for those who came into contact with me over the last few days. Please follow the latest MOH SOP on close contact,” he added. — DayakDaily
