KUCHING, Jan 13: There should be no more excuses for Sarawakians not getting their booster shots against Covid-19, says Deputy Chief Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said multiple options and vaccine combinations such as SSP (Sinovac+Sinovac+Pfizer), SSS (Sinovac+Sinovac+Sinovac), AAP (AstraZeneca+AstraZeneca+Pfizer) and PPP (Pfizer+Pfizer+Pfizer) are now available.

With that, he urged all eligible Sarawakians to immediately arrange to get their booster doses in view of potential spike of new Omicron cases in the State.

“With the Omicron surge already in West Malaysia and Sabah, please, please get your booster before Omicron surge in Sarawak soon,” he said in his Facebook posting yesterday (Jan 12).

According to Dr Sim, who is also Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, from Oct 2021 to Jan 2022, only 74.2 per cent or 1,346,545 out of total 1,814,752 eligible Sarawakian adults came forward for their booster doses.

He said apart from that, only 59.3 per cent of eligible adults aged 18 to 29 have received their booster jabs.

As of Jan 10, Sarawak reported in total 18 Omicron cases comprising eight imported cases and 10 local infection cases. — DayakDaily.
