Dr Sim calls on Scovag and JKNS to finalise list of registered Sarawakians for first Covid-19 vaccine dose in June

KUCHING, May 28: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian is calling on the Sarawak Covid-19 Advisory Group (Scovag) and State Health Department (JKNS) to finalise a list for Sarawakians registered for Covid-19 vaccination under MySejahtera to get their first dose next month.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Local Government and Housing said the Sarawak government wanted to get as many Sarawakians vaccinated as possible to protect them rather than administering second doses for those who have been jabbed in June 2021.

“Will get Scovag and JKNS to finalise, giving everyone registered with MySejahtera to date first dose in June rather than 500,000 Sarawakian with two doses in June.

“Sarawak will scale up vaccination once the substantial increase in vaccines arrives.

“From June onwards, a substantial amount of Covid-19 vaccines under National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pick) will arrive (was told every week will get as much vaccines as the whole month for April or May),” he said in a Facebook post last night.

Dr Sim had uploaded the post after he had been informed of the arrival of the weekly shipment of Pfizer vaccines at Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday.

At present, he noted, Pick under the Health Ministry and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) is utilising Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines.

The second dose of the Pfizer vaccine is administered three weeks after the first dose.

Meanwhile, the second dose of Sinovac is administered after three to four weeks after the first dose.

Dr Sim said the Sarawak government is quite confident of completing the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Sarawakians by August 2021. — DayakDaily
