KUCHING, July 4: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his cabinet ministers are expected to be in town come July 27 for Pakatan Harapan Sarawak’s dinner themed ‘Sarawak’s New Hope’.
The event is organised in conjunction with Sarawak Independence Day, and it will be held at Dewan CIDB in Samariang, here.
“We are expecting over 1,000 guests to join the dinner. The CIDB hall can accommodate a maximum of 120 tables,” former Stampin MP Julian Tan told a press conference at Democratic Action Party (DAP) headquarters here today.
The dinner is jointly organised by the component parties of PH Sarawak, with the event organising committee comprising Tan representing DAP, Baharuddin Mokhsen of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Zakaria Bujang of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Abang Halil Abang Naili of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
Tan said the dinner was also aimed at enhancing the commitment of PH on Sarawakians’ aspirations.
“This is consistent with the federal government’s efforts to restore Sarawak’s rights alongside the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to fulfil ‘Sarawak’s New Hope’,” he said. — DayakDaily
