Dr Annuar denies involvement in organising Gawai do with “sexy dance”

SIBU, June 20: Asserting that he was not in any way involved in organising the event which sparked the recent sexy dance controversy, Dr Annuar Rapaee says in future, he would ask his personal assistant to scrutinise events first before he attends them when invited.

The Nangka assemblyman in a statement said that it was rather unfair to link him to the sexy dance controversy which occurred during a Gawai Dayak gathering here recently, to which he had no control over its organisation as he was merely attending the function on an invitation from the event’s organiser.

In view of this, he reckoned that individuals who linked him to the event did so purely on political grounds with the intention of assassinating his character.

“The function and all the programmes were arranged by the organising committee team headed by Joshua Ting from PDP (Progressive Democratic Party).

“PBB (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu) Central Zone was invited and allocated 25 tables. I was given the task of inviting the guests from 18 branches from central zone and nearby branches were also invited,” he clarified.

The Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development invited the public to judge him as politician, who attended the function as an invited guest and not resort to character assassination on political grounds.

“You can condemn me if I don’t do my work to serve the people,” he said.

Towards this end, Dr Annuar said he sought to apologise if he was in the wrong for attending this function.

Meanwhile, PBB Bawang Assan chairman Romeo Christopher Tegong believed that the sexy dance controversy was instigated by some people trying to gain political mileage by intentionally harping on unnecessary matters that could confuse the people. ā€” DayakDaily
