DPM: S’wak’s MA63 demands could be resolved much earlier than Sabah

Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof

KUCHING, Feb 26: Sarawak’s demands related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) could be resolved much earlier than Sabah, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah was reported by Bernama today, explaining that it is because of differences in background and the law in Sarawak and Sabah and has nothing to do with the existing leader’s position.

Apart from that, he said the differences in demand involve agencies from federal and state governments.

According to Fadillah, who was tasked to resolve all unresolved matters within the negotiations on MA63, the demands also involved an annex that contained findings and recommendations by the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC).

He added it includes recommendations and matters involving the Continental Shelf Act, which falls under Sarawak and Sabah’s jurisdictions. — DayakDaily
