KUCHING, June 17: Enough is enough—stop politicking and work on bringing people together to develop the nation, says Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah opined that the rakyat has the final say in deciding what leaders say is right or wrong and can decide for themselves what is a good government.
“We are bringing the people to develop this nation together, especially for the recovery of our economy,” he told reporters after launching the annual Pesta Samariang held at Kampung Tunku Community Hall at Petra Jaya today.
Earlier, Fadillah, who is Petra Jaya MP, was asked to comment on a recent statement by Kedah Menteri Besar and Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Sanusi Md Nor, who allegedly said that people are fed-up with the unity government at the federal level and that PN is stronger.
“I don’t like to comment on (Sanusi) as he has the right to say what he wants. We know the people wanted political stability and unity in all states,” he said.
He pointed out that the country’s stability and unity included all races and religions.
“This is why we are called a unity government. Why don’t PN and the unity government set aside their political differences and develop our nation together?
“It is with political stability that we could focus on developing our nation. If there is too much politicking, it will bring many negative effects and impact our economic growth.
“Therefore, we need to be united as a nation, and enough is enough—let us have political stability for our economy to recover, and only then can we organise our people and develop our nation,” he said.
Accompanying him at the event was Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) and Samariang assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali. — DayakDaily
