KUCHING, Sept 15: Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof is waiting for the formal written response from Perikatan Nasional (PN) rejecting the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for MP allocations from the government.
Fadillah said he will also consult with the unity government secretariat after receiving the official notification on the matter.
“I respect their views and will wait for official letters from them,” he told reporters when met after officiating at Regatta Tandang Sari held in Pusa today. A video recording of his comment was made available to the media.
He said it is currently uncertain if the opposition wants to negotiate because based on media reports, they do not agree with all the terms given.
“However, I will inform the secretariat for their guidance in evaluating their views,” he added.
Earlier today, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said PN unanimously rejected two draft MoUs for MP allocations from the government.
He claimed that certain conditions in the MoU are against the Constitution, including saying that the draft’s terms can be manipulated due to lack of a clear operational framework. — DayakDaily
