KUCHING, March 19: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women chief Datuk Seri Doris Brodie says the time now is for Sarawak to fight Covid-19 and not give in to politicking.

She opined that when Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg walked into Wisma Bapa Malaysia on the evening of March 17 and had his body temperature checked, it was not for show.

“There is no ‘wayang’ (acting) here, the rest came earlier and were tested while waiting for the chief minister to arrive.

“I think under the circumstances, we should avoid politicking, and instead unite to curb Covid-19. This is not the time to insinuate or accuse to gain political mileage.

“Covid-19 is a serious issue. To accuse the chief minister as ‘main wayang’ (acting) is belittling his wisdom and character,” Doris told DayakDaily.

DayakDaily on March 17 (Tuesday) published a live video showing Abang Johari undergoing a body temperature scan while entering Wisma Bapa Malaysia before heading straight to a lift to attend a State Security Council meeting. In the video, his entourage was seen being allegedly spared from the scanning.

Following the live streaming of the video, a local politician made it an issue and raised the question why was it that only Abang Johari was scanned and not the rest of his entourage. — DayakDaily
