KUCHING, Oct 18: Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie has returned unopposed as the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women Chief for the 2025-2028 term, reaffirming her leadership of the party’s Women’s Wing during the sixth Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) held here today.
PRS president, Dato Sri Joseph Salang Gandum, who was at the event, lauded the Women’s Wing for its unity and smooth leadership renewal, describing it as a vital pillar in strengthening the party’s grassroots foundation.
“All top leadership candidates (of the Women’s Wing) returned unopposed, a reflection of the Women’s Wing’s solidarity and shared commitment to the party’s vision,” he said during the event, which also saw the presence of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The new PRS Women’s Central Committee is headed by Doris with Rosaline Neging as her deputy, followed by vice chiefs Agnes Undil and Mutang Karani, while Misiah Abdullah serves as secretary, Gawai Enggong as treasurer, and Jenny Crystal Mansang as publicity chief.
Joseph also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advancing women’s representation in politics and public affairs, noting that PRS continues to uphold gender equality across all levels.
“PRS is proud to have women leaders in both Houses of Parliament, including Senator Rita and Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie,” he said, adding that the party aims to see at least one woman elected to the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) while ensuring fair representation in local councils, government-linked companies (GLCs) and ceremonial appointments.
He added that PRS’s near gender-balanced membership reflects its inclusive and forward-looking approach.
