KUCHING, Aug 18: Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie is optimistic about retaining her position as Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women’s chief at the party’s Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC), scheduled for October.
In a TVS report, she expressed confidence that she was about to continue leading the PRS Women’s wing, backed by nearly four decades of political experience.
“As a party that has long been established and based on past experiences, many members of the Supreme Council or top leadership will be defending their respective positions.
“What this means is, if there is a contest, it should happen in the spirit of family because we are like one big family. For me, if there is a contest, it must be a healthy one that helps strengthen the party,” she said.
The MP for Sri Aman said this when met after the closing ceremony of the Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie Golden Boot Cup at the RPR Taman Sentosa Indah Futsal Court in Sri Aman on Sunday (Aug 17).
However, she stressed that winning or losing is irrelevant compared to ensuring that the elected leaders remain committed to the party’s progress.
On Aug 10, PRS president Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum announced that the party’s TDC will be held from Oct 18-19 and that all positions in the party would be open for contest.
This TDC will see the election of the top leadership line-up as well as the restructuring of the PRS Supreme Council. — DayakDaily
