Door-to-door swab test to be carried out in Jalan Tiong Hua

Dr Annuar at his FB Livestream

SIBU, Feb 26: A door-to-door swab test will be carried out soon on residents of Jalan Tiong Hua here.

Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee coordinator, Dr Annuar Rapaee in his daily Facebook Livestream session today said they had to resort to this method as there were residents in the area who acted differently by “escaping” from the test at the recent active case detection (ACD) exercise.

“It is true that there are residents who don’t want to go for the test. These are people who are renting at the place,” he said this in reply to a netizen who brought out the matter.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing, pointed out that they will cooperate with a private medical specialist centre to do a house-to-house swab test.

“We want everybody to be tested to ensure that the positivity rate is not high,” he said.

Zone 7 (Tiong Hua) has recorded 176 cases thus far.

On the situation in the 20 flats at Sibu Jaya which were into three-week of lockdown, he said due to people’s movement, it continued to record a high number of positive cases.

“Of the 36 new cases in Sibu Jaya today, 35 of them were from the flats. I urge the residents not to move about so that we can bring down the case,” he advised.

As for Town Villa, which is also under lockdown, he reminded people not to be too relax though there was no new case today.

“Do not accept any visitors to your flat even though the situation appears to be good,” he advised.

On Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for Phase 2 Sentosa which come into effect at 12.01 midnight of Feb 27 to March 12 at 11.59pm, he emphasised that it had to be enforced due to the increase in the number of new cases.

“There are many implications on resources, and frontliners when we enforce EMCO but we have no choice as the disease has spread,” he added. -DayakDaily
