KUCHING, Sept 8: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has reminded the public not to take risks by using the access road to the southern zone of Kuching International Airport (KIA), as the route is still in its final stage of evaluation and will only be officially opened on Sept 13, 2025.
According to JKR Sarawak in a Facebook post, the road is currently undergoing final assessment and preparation works before being declared safe for public use.
During a site visit today, JKR Sarawak director Ir Dr Cassidy Morris explained that the inspection was necessary to ensure the road meets safety standards prior to opening.
He also cautioned road users against attempting to access the route before its official launch date.
The reminder comes as part of JKR’s ongoing effort to ensure infrastructure projects are safe and fully ready for public usage before being handed over.
The southern access road is expected to ease traffic flow to and from Kuching International Airport once it opens next week. — DayakDaily
