MIRI, Nov 10: Knowledge and skills in bead loom weaving should not be looked down upon as rural entrepreneurship has the potential to be a key strategy in improving rural folks’ incomes and creating more employment opportunities, says Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

He opined, the activity could form the impetus for economic growth and development.

He said this at the closing ceremony for the ‘Loom Manik’ workshop on Saturday evening at a hotel here.

The workshop was organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Telang Usan women’s wing.

Nearly 20 women from Telang Usan constituency took part in the one-day workshop.

Also present was political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Balan Selling.

On another note, Dennis also reminded his constituents not to be easily influenced by the rhetoric of the opposition.

“They want to look appealing to the people of Sarawak, and hence are making various kinds of promises, but at the end of the day, they cannot fullfil it,” he said.

During the event, Dennis has also presented insurance cards to PBB Telang Usan committee members for their healthcare insurance scheme. — DayakDaily
