KAPIT, Sept 23: Police have arrested two brothers in connection with the fatal stabbing of a disc jockey (DJ) at an entertainment outlet along Jalan Tun Jugah here last Thursday.
In a TVS news report, Kapit District Police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said the suspects, aged 30 and 36, were detained on Sept 19, several days after the incident.
“One of the suspects confessed to stabbing the victim with a sharp object, while the other was present at the scene,” she said in a statement on Monday (Sept 22).
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Patrick Alvin Jeffery, reportedly stumbled into the entertainment premises around 10.30pm, covered in blood, and pleaded for help before collapsing.
He was rushed to Kapit Hospital but was pronounced dead due to severe injuries to his chest and beneath his right armpit.
“A post-mortem at Sibu Hospital confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest that pierced the heart,” Rohana said.
Police also seized several items from the suspects, who have since been remanded for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“Initial investigations suggest the motive was likely driven by a personal grudge,” she added. — DayakDaily
