KUCHING, March 1: Residents in rural areas who are experiencing difficulty in applying for flood relief due to Internet access issues may do so at their respective District Offices.
According to a TVS news report, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong stated that any referrals may also be obtained through staff at temporary evacuation centres (PPS).
“This is for those who relocate to PPS, while those who do not relocate must submit applications to community leaders, village chiefs, headmen, and so on.
“Approval is subject to confirmation by the district official who serves as chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee,” Ugak said when answering a supplementary question by Baram MP Dato Anyi Ngau at the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur today.
He also disclosed that each state has different standard operating procedures (SOPs) for distributing aid to fire victims.
He noted, however, that the federal government, through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), always provides aid to affected victims. — DayakDaily
