Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said owners of eateries must ensure that those entering the premises for dine-in show a digital certificate of Covid-19 vaccination which confirmed that the individual has completed their vaccination.

“I would also like to suggest to the operators of the restaurant premises to provide more dining space outside the premises for better ventilation. We understand that the risk of transmission of Covid-19 virus is significantly higher inside the premises than outside.

“For couples who are fully vaccinated and wish to bring their children aged 17 and below for dine-in at the eatery premises, make sure your children adhere to the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said when announcing allowances for individuals who had completed Covid-19 vaccinations.

His speech was carried live by major media outlets including via an RTM livestream on Facebook today.

Muhyiddin took note that the dine-in activities indeed carry a higher risk of Covid-19 transmission because face masks will be taken off when eating and also when chatting with companions at the same dining table.

“Therefore, I would like to advise people to dine-in only when necessary and not to spend too much time (there). The public is also advised to go for takeaways if the situation permits. Choose premises that has a good and open ventilation system,” he added.

Muhyiddin also announced that individuals who are fully vaccinated are allowed to travel cross-district on condition that they must present a digital certificate of Covid-19 vaccination to security personnel at roadblocks.

Additionally, he said the federal government has also allowed domestic tourism activities in the same State involving homestays and hotels.

“Homestay and hotel operators need to ensure that those wishing to enter the premises must show a digital certificate of Covid-19 vaccination which shows that the individual has completed vaccination,” he added. — DayakDaily
