KUCHING, Nov 14: Digital inclusion sits at the heart of Sarawak’s transformation agenda, driven by the belief that when knowledge is made accessible, it becomes a powerful equalising force.

This commitment continues to shape the Sarawak’s push to ensure every Sarawakian, whether in urban centres or the rural interior, receives fair access to technology-enabled learning and opportunities for personal development.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the rapid advancement of technology has reshaped the way education is delivered, demanding stronger digital infrastructure capable of connecting every school, especially those in remote regions.

“Through digital connectivity, we empower teachers and students to go beyond the limits of the classroom. This is why digital inclusion is central to our transformation agenda,” he said during the ‘Hornbill Foundation: No Kid Left Behind’ event at a hotel here today.

He added that as Sarawak moves forward with its modernisation efforts, the government is preparing its people for future careers in renewable energy, digital services, artificial intelligence and green technology.

To harness these opportunities, Abang Johari stressed that Sarawak’s youth must be equipped with technical skills, creativity and global awareness.

“We must view education not only as a social responsibility but also as a strategic investment. The knowledge and skills we nurture today will define Sarawak’s future competitiveness. When we educate a child, we are not just transforming a life, we are building a better Sarawak,” he said.

During the event, he also witnessed the presentation of a cheque to the Hornbill Foundation to support its work in helping more students, particularly those in rural communities, gain access to education.
