KUCHING, Dec 26: The diesel fuel outage affecting multiple PETRONAS petrol stations nationwide is expected to persist until Dec 31.

This was confirmed by PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad through a statement issued on its website today without further elaborating on the cause of the diesel shortage.

The Malaysia’s leading retailer and marketer of downstream petroleum products however assured customers that they are actively working with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to minimise the disruptions.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time,” the statement read.

A statement by PETRONAS on the diesel shortage nationwide issued on Dec 26, 2023.

This development followed public complaints about the inability to refill diesel, with several petrol stations, including the PETRONAS petrol station near Drive Heights in Stutong Baru, here experiencing a two-day supply outage.

A similar situation was also reported in Mukah’s PETRONAS stations, with long queues of vehicles reportedly forming at Shell stations for refueling.

In a statement earlier today, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak has confirmed that most PETRONAS’ petrol stations in Sarawak and Sabah are currently facing either a shortage or outage of diesel supply.

Motorists are also advised to refill diesel at the nearest Shell or Petros stations.

The Ministry’s Enforcement Division said it was conducting inspections and monitoring all petrol stations.

The public is also urged to provide information related to diesel misappropriation for further action.
