SIMANGGANG, Dec 10: A dialogue session to overcome water problems was held between the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and some 38 community leaders including village security and development committee (JKKK) was held yesterday.

Each of these leaders took the opportunity to raise their concerns and problems on water supply which have been affecting them and their villagers for years.

ā€œThe dialogue serves as a platform for these community leaders to get direct answers and explanation from JBALB officers. During the discussion, they discussed short, medium and long term solutions; and plans or actions taken by JBALB.

ā€œIn some places here in Sri Aman, the frequency of water supply disruptions is a big issue and it haunts the villagers. That is why JBALB is here to come forward and explain what is happening,ā€ Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden said.

Among those from JBALB who attended and explained to the villagers were Southern Sarawak Regional Manager Ir George Lee Chun Ling, Sri Aman division engineer Adzahari Baini, civil engineer Sally Tang Nga Lin and assistant division engineer Mimfa Ong.

Meanwhile, Francis told the community leaders that while Sarawak government under GPS is meticulous especially in ensuring a better and comfortable livelihood for its people, there are times where certain things or actions may not cover or meet the people’s expectations due to the vast size area.

ā€œAny government or its elected representative will not be able to satisfy each and every rakyat because each person is different and human attitude that tend to have hidden agendas.

ā€œHowever, for an elected representative who values criticism from a handful of negative people is considered as a challenge to serve his rakyat better,ā€ Francis pointed out. -DayakDaily
