Deputy Transport Minister visits family of Kapit boat tragedy victim, Bomba control post

SIBU, March 10: Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Dato Henry Harry Jinep arrived in Sibu today to learn a more detailed report on the Kapit boat tragedy in Batang Baleh.

The first place he visited in the morning was the Sibu Hospital’s Forensics Unit where he met the family members of Emerson John James Naim, 47, who was one of the four persons feared to have drowned when their boat capsized on March 7.


“I met with the family members of Emerson at the Hospital where they managed to identify the body earlier,” he told DayakDaily via phone call today.

Henry also visited the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) control post in Kapit where the search for the last missing victim, Constable Iskandar Zulkarnain Ibrahim, is currently ongoing.

There, he received a briefing on the operation’s developments from on scene commandant ASP Fauzan from Kapit District Police.

In a Facebook post today, Henry conveyed his condolences to the families of the three victims namely Emerson, Sergeant Jonathan Lambert and Jack Balan. — DayakDaily
