KUCHING, Feb 9: Sarawak’s social cohesion has enabled it to soar to greater heights of developmental progress, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
In a Chinese New Year 2024 message today, Awang Tengah said Sarawak’s multicultural background and racial harmony have also proven its unique strengths.
“It is my fervent hope that this year’s festive celebration will bring happiness and joy to everyone.
“I sincerely wish the Chinese and other communities in Sarawak and elsewhere continued prosperity and progress,” he said.
Meanwhile, extending his Chinese New Year greeting to all celebrating, Awang Tengah said the Lunar New Year is a time for everyone to reflect upon the past year’s memories and accomplishments and to chart the future while navigating into new waters.
This year, he said, communities in Sarawak and around the world welcome the Year of the Dragon, which signifies potent power, boundless luck, valiancy, excellence, determination, dignity, and divinity according to Chinese culture and folklore.
“Most importantly, a dragon is believed to have enduring strength to overcome the many obstacles that can hinder success.
“It is my fervent hope that this year’s festive celebration will bring happiness and joy to everyone. I sincerely wish the Chinese and other communities in Sarawak and elsewhere continued prosperity and progress,” he said. — DayakDaily
