KUCHING, April 21: The Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, has expressed his pride in the dancers of Tyng Dance Academy and their mentor, Chan Tyng Tyng from Kuching as they recently won an impressive 29 awards, including five gold medals, at the Bailando Open Championship 2024 in Johor Bahru.

“Consistent in performance with 117 golds across national and international competitions in 2023, (a) testimonial of commitment (that) extends beyond competitions but (is also) a celebration of Sarawak’s cultural legacy through dance.

“(The) Stage had been Chan Tyng Tyng’s second home since the age of five! Over the course of a year, her skills evolved from Dancesport, Classical Ballet, and Chinese Dance (all of which are professionally qualified), and she transitioned from performer to mentor, establishing Tyng Dance Academy to nurture young talents and showcase Sarawak’s talent on the global dance scene,” he said.

He went on to say that Tyng Dance Academy began with 12 students in 2006 and has since grown to house over 300 dedicated dancers, serving as a beacon of Sarawak’s cultural heritage by telling the story of Sarawak’s spirit, resilience, and artistic excellence.

“Truly living up to Tyng Dance Academy—’We Dance, We Believe, We Make It Happen’ for Sarawak,” Dr Sim added. — DayakDaily
