KUCHING, Aug 31: Sarawak’s astounding success is not only due to various forms of development, but also to the resulting effort and continued struggle of its people and leaders, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said that despite early obstacles and challenges during the last 60 years, it is remarkable to see many rigorous developments in Sarawak.
“The State has seen much progress and many forms of infrastructure development—the standard of living, the people’s welfare, education, agriculture and health. All this is due to the struggle of our people and our leaders.
“This could only be achieved through the strong unity of the people in Sarawak during the 60 years of independence,” he said.
He was met during the “Unity Ride and Walk” in conjunction with the State-level National Day 2023 Celebration held at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today.
Uggah said the exemplary leadership of the Sarawak Cabinet has also stood out in producing various developments in the State.
“So there is hope for the people to see a more prosperous future as guided by the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“What is important is that we hope the people continue to maintain unity in diversity because this is a factor that determines our success in shaping development according to what we want and plan,” said Uggah.
Earlier, Uggah officiated at the “Unity Ride and Walk” programme where some 600 participants across 23 contingents joined the Unity Walk event and another 300 people participated in the Unity Ride in conjunction with the celebration.
Minister of Woman, Childhood and Community Well-being Development and minister-in-charge of the State-level National Day 2023 celebration Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, deputy ministers and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki were also present at the event. — DayakDaily
