KUCHING, May 27: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Ukas) Datuk Abdullah Saidol proposes that the Sarawak Media Conference (SMeC) be organised on a larger scale and expanded to highlight other aspects of the media industry.

“So far, the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has given a positive response to holding SMeC on a larger scale, perhaps next year,” he added.

“We hope future SMeC events will not only involve the presentation of the keynote speakers, but we also want to involve other players in the media industry,” he said in his speech at the closing ceremony of SMeC 2024 today.

Abdullah also invited national media practitioners to arrive in Sarawak earlier, prior to the conference, so that they have time to engage in various activities, including visits to places of interest and tourist destinations.

Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Ukas director Samuel Simon, Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) president Ronnie Teo Teck Wei, and Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak chief executive officer Ali Suhaili were also present. — DayakDaily
