KUCHING, April 14: Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep has lauded the contributions of former government officers who have served in Bau district over the past several years.

He said that they had done a great job in ensuring that the district progressed along with others in Sarawak.

“Bau, like other districts in Sarawak, has proved to be a challenge when it comes to implementing progress, but these officers have executed their job well. Their dedication has led to much development here,” he added.

Henry, who is also Tasik Biru state assemblyman, said this during the ‘Sekalung Budi Daerah Bau’ event at a leading hotel here earlier tonight.

He hoped that these officers do well in their new careers and continue to become an asset to the government.

“I also hoped that those who replaced them would continue the good work of these officers.”

Among those that he commended was former Bau district officer Anielia Siam, who is now the deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, former Bau Hospital medical officer Dr Winnie Johnny, who is now academic staff at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), former Majlis Daerah Bau secretary Ng Siang Wei and former head of Bau Welfare Department, Norhanizan Abdul Rahman.

He also urged the newly appointed and re-appointed community leaders in Bau to work hard to help their community.

“You must ensure that your community continues to develop to improve its social-economic status and be on par with other communities in Sarawak.”

Also present were Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, Deputy Resident of Kuching Cheong Yaw Ling and Bau District officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas. ā€” DayakDaily
