KUCHING, July 15: Flying Sarawak’s old colonial flag for Sarawak Day does not mean one is showing disrespect or not being patriotic, says Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang.

Tiang, who is also Pelawan assemblyman, said it is the other way around as it shows that they love Sarawak and honour its history.

“I think that is a beautiful thing to do, and of course, they should also not forget our present status,” he told reporters after officiating at the Endemic Phase Medical Devices Regulatory roadshow held at the Sarawak Heart Centre today.

Tiang opined that flying the old Sarawak flag shows that they remember the State’s history.

“I think there is nothing wrong with something historical,” he said. — DayakDaily
