KUCHING, Aug 4: Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan praised the extraordinary reception received by K-pop star and actor Rain at the Old Courthouse today, as the latter was invited as a celebrity guest at the Asean International Film Festival And Awards (AIFFA) 2023.
Snowdan expressed his thanks to all of Rain’s fans for making the meet and greet event successful, some of whom came as early as 10am this morning to have the best spot to be near their idol.
Rain, real name Jung Ji-Hoon, has made waves around the world for his albums and contributions to K-pop and has appeared in several Hollywood films.
“This kind of scene proves that we can organise international events, and Rain’s presence at AIFFA 2023 made it lively, especially when he will be present with other actors at the festival gala and award dinner held at Pullman Hotel tonight,” he said.
Other special guests celebrity film stars who had appeared in previous AIFFA in Kuching were actors Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Donny Yen and Steven Seagal.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performance Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and their permanent secretary Datu Sherrina Hussaini were also present with special guests. — DayakDaily
