KUCHING, Sept 13: Deputy Minister of Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali hopes that a comprehensive history of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) will be incorporated into the Malaysia of Education (MoE) syllabus and taught in schools nationwide.
Sharifah Hasidah expressed her desire for this inclusion to ensure that future generations have a thorough understanding of the subject and recognise the involvement of Sabah and Sarawak in the formation of Malaysia.
She emphasised the importance of teaching such a historical event to all Malaysians, acknowledging its significance as an undeniable part of the nation’s history.
“There is nothing wrong if such a historical event is included in the MoE syllabus to broaden our knowledge,” she stated during a press conference at the ‘Sarawak History International Conference 2023’ held at the Grand Margherita Hotel.
Sharifah Hasidah urged the MoE to collaborate with experts in Sarawak history, not only regarding the subject of MA63 but also other historical facts related to Sarawak, as she believes this knowledge is essential for all Malaysians.
She also announced a RM10,000 allocation from her constituency fund to support the event organized by Ikatan Graduan Melayu Sarawak (IGMS).
The conference saw participation from 26 speakers and 250 attendees from Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia, with IGMS president Datu Dr Sanib Said in attendance. — DayakDaily
